Long Time No Post

So, it's been a while. More than a month! But what a crazy month it's been. On Oct 25th, we got a 9 week old yellow lab puppy to add to our menagerie. His name is Jake, and it's been a bit crazy since then. In the past month, here are the major milestones:

  1. Jake Potato, the new puppy
  2. Oktoberfest party, an unqualified success
  3. A visit from my folks, to coincide with our party
  4. Work, work, work
  5. Turkey Day, with lots of quality family time
  6. Snow! And really cold weather

I'm going to attempt to communicate the highs and lows in pictures. Hopefully I will succeed...

Jake, on his first day home.

M and Jake at the end of the second day...

Jake and Sam - first week. Sam wasn't so sure about this young pup, so they kept their distance.

But M worked hard to bring them together.

And then we realized that both our labs sleep like road kill.

Jake with Grandma (my mom) during their visit.

Jake finds an empty beer bottle after the party.

And the only thing more fun than playing with an empty bottle is pretending to tip one back...

Then Jake and Sam became friends and learned to play together.

And the only thing more fun than wrestling is playing tug of war.

Jake is an attention hog - god forbid you weren't playing with him.

Carving the turkey at my MIL's house - we deep fried it this year - see the nice crispy skin? Mmmm, so good!

Jake likes the fridge, and the dishwasher. The fridge thing is annoying, licking the dishwasher is gross!

We visited Granpa Al (M's side) with my FIL over the holiday weekend. He's 91!

And then it snowed on Sunday! And it has stayed around with temperatures down in the high teens and low twenties. The girls are NOT amused. Snow was fun the first day, now it's just too cold! They come out for treats and food. I put their water in the roost box with the heatlamp to keep it from freezing.
